Painters Vineyard offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere within a picturesque single-field setting. Nestled on a south-facing slope overlooking the Grand Union Canal, it provides a charming environment perfect for spending time with family and friends.

Visiting information

Open Days: Painters Vineyard is typically open on the second Sunday of each month. Additionally, it offers extra open days during peak seasons; for example, it was open every Sunday from July 6th to August 17th in 2025.

Access: There's no need to pre-book for general Open Days, you can simply turn up.Tours & Tastings: Free guided vineyard tours and wine tastings are available during Open Days.
Events: The vineyard is happy to discuss hosting private events in its garden overlooking the vines. They also offer presentations and tastings for local groups. Occasionally, special events like sparkling wine and cheese platters may require advance booking.

Refreshments: While there isn't a full restaurant, sparkling wine and cheese platters are offered on some open Sundays.

Family Friendly: Children are welcome at the vineyard.

The Wine

Painters Vineyard specializes exclusively in producing English Sparkling Wine, crafted using the traditional Champagne method. The vineyard cultivates Pinot Noir and Seyval Blanc grapes, which are used to create both white and rosé sparkling wines.

Their wines have garnered numerous accolades over the years. Notable awards include a Gold Medal in the MVA Wine Challenge in 2015, and being Highly Recommended by Decanter Magazine in 2016 and Recommended in 2020. In 2017, they earned the Wine of the Year title at the MVA Wine Challenge. More recently, Painters Vineyard received a Gold Medal and the prestigious Best Sparkling Blend Trophy from WineGB in 2021. Their 2023 and 2024 vintages earned Silver awards for both their Rosé and White Sparkling Wines from the Independent English Wine Awards (IEWA), and they were a "2025 Winner of a National Trophy for the second time".

While the grapes are grown at Painters Vineyard, the winemaking process takes place at Halfpenny Green in Staffordshire. No specific sustainability certifications such as Organic or Regenerative practices are mentioned for the vineyard.
