The Wine

Danebury Vineyards specializes in producing award-winning English sparkling and still white wines. Their portfolio includes a flagship vintage brut sparkling wine named 'Cossack,' alongside three still white wines: Madeleine Angevine, Schönburger, and their blended Reserve. The 'Cossack' sparkling wine is crafted from Auxerrois Blanc and Rulander (Pinot Gris) grapes and is aged for at least four years on its lees. The Madeleine Angevine offers a fruity profile with a floral nose, while the Schönburger is noted for its appealing aromatic qualities. The Danebury Reserve is a skillful blend of all their grape varieties, combining the fruitiness of Madeleine Angevine, the crisp acidity of Schönburger, and the structure of Auxerrois, complemented by the subtle influence of Rulander.

Danebury's wines are consistent medal winners. The Danebury Reserve 2018 notably secured a Gold Medal for best English still wine and was awarded Best Wine by the Glass at the Sommelier Wine Awards in 2020. The Schönburger 2018 also received a Bronze Medal at the Decanter Wine Awards.

The vineyard operates on principles that are true to organic practices, avoiding the use of insecticides and pesticides, and applying fungicides sparingly. Their vineyard management follows sustainable principles to ensure the health of the vines and the surrounding ecosystem. While Danebury Vineyards cultivates its grapes on its own estate, there is no on-site winery. Their wines are produced by experienced English winemaker Vince Gower at Stanlake Park in Berkshire.
