The Wine
Limeburn Hill Biodynamic Vineyard produces a distinctive range of natural wines and spirits, all crafted with minimal intervention to express the unique terroir of their Somerset hillside. They specialize in Pétillant Naturel wines, available in white, rosé, and red styles, alongside experimental still Amber (skin-macerated white) and still red wines. They also distill spirits, including an eau de vie, from their own grapes. The vineyard holds certification as both organic and biodynamic, making it the only biodynamic vineyard in the South West of England and one of only four in the UK. Their philosophy centers on fostering soil health and biodiversity, utilizing natural preparations and wild yeasts for fermentation. The wines are unfined, vegan, and produced without added sulphites, filtering, or additives, ensuring an authentic reflection of the land. Everything, from grape picking to label design, is done by hand. Limeburn Hill operates a small, dedicated on-site winery, ensuring full control over their winemaking process from grape to bottle.
