The Wine

Pewley Down Vineyard produces award-winning English still and sparkling rosé wines. The sparkling wines are crafted using the traditional method, undergoing secondary fermentation in the bottle and extended ageing on lees to develop complex flavours and a fine mousse. Wines are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

The vineyard grows classic cool-climate grape varieties: Rondo, Bacchus, Schonburger, and Pinot Noir Précoce. All grapes are handpicked from their own small vineyard. The underlying chalk and flint soils provide minerals that contribute to the wines' unique qualities.

Pewley Down Vineyard does not have its own on-site winery. Instead, their handpicked grapes are transported to professional contract wineries, including the Bolney Wine Estate, where they are expertly crafted into wine.

The vineyard expresses a strong passion for nature and sustainability, evidenced by their "Biodiversity Project" which involves managing acquired grassland to encourage local flora and fauna. While not explicitly certified Organic or Regenerative, their practices demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship.
