Cellar Door Shop:You are welcome to pop into the Cellar Door Shop Wednesday to Saturday, from 10am to 4pm, where you can browse wines and pick up a bottle to take home.

Tours & Tastings:Guided vineyard tours with tutored tastings take around 90 minutes and are bookable in advance. The tour takes visitors through the vineyard, covers the journey from grape to glass, and includes tutored tastings of the award-winning wines. Booking is required - see the website for upcoming dates.

Guided tour with tasting: from £25 per person.

Self-guided tours around the estate are available free of charge; collect a map from the Cellar Door Shop. No booking required.

Events:Keep an eye out for special events throughout the year, including food truck visits, seasonal celebrations such as the Summer Solstice Tour and Tasting, and the Surrey Hills themed tours.

Food:There is no on-site restaurant, but food trucks visit on selected dates. Pre-booked platters of local cheese and charcuterie are also available for those who want something to accompany their wine. You are welcome to bring your own picnic.

Private & Corporate Hire:Greyfriars is available for private hire for a range of occasions - from birthday parties and christenings to networking events and corporate away days. Exclusive use of the tasting room is available, and guided tours and wine tastings can be arranged for groups. Please note the vineyard does not host weddings. Contact the team directly to discuss your requirements.

Getting Here by Public Transport:Guildford station is around 35 minutes by train from London Waterloo. From there, a taxi to the vineyard takes approximately 8 minutes. Bus access via the 65 from Guildford's Friary Centre is possible, but involves walking along and crossing a fast dual carriageway and is not recommended.

Dogs & Children:Guided tours are not suitable for children under 18, but families with children are welcome at the Cellar Door Shop and on self-guided tours. Dogs on leads are welcome on site, in the Cellar Door Shop, and on self-guided tours, but cannot join guided tours.

Greyfriars grows across 40 acres of south-facing chalk slopes on the Hog's Back, within the Surrey Hills National Landscape. The chalk here was laid down between 80 and 100 million years ago - the same geological seam that underpins the great sparkling wine regions further south - and it gives the wines their characteristic freshness and mineral edge.

The core plantings are the classic trio of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, used primarily for the sparkling wines the vineyard has built its reputation on. Smaller plots of Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Blanc contribute to a still wine range that reflects the breadth of what this site can produce.

All wines are estate grown and bottled, with the full production process managed on site. Ageing takes place in a 3,500 sq ft natural chalk cellar dug into the hillside in 2017. The vineyard was originally established in 1989 and was among the first in England to plant Champagne varieties; it has been run by the Wagstaff family since 2010.

The wines have won recognition in major competitions including the Decanter World Wine Awards, the Wines of Great Britain Awards and the Sommelier Wine Awards, with gold medals across multiple vintages.

Greyfriars Vineyard is located on the Hog's Back (A31), Puttenham, Surrey GU3 1AG, with onsite parking available. Specific driving directions from the A3 (southbound or northbound) and A31 (eastbound) are detailed on the vineyard's website.

By Public Transport
The nearest train stations are Guildford and Wanborough. From Guildford Train Station, it is recommended to take a taxi, which costs approximately £10-£12. Alternatively, you can take the local 65 bus from Guildford's Friary Centre (a 5-minute walk from Guildford station) and disembark opposite Greyfriars House, followed by a short walk.
