Vinebound Verdict
Highly recommended - Some of the most gorgeous views I've found at an English vineyard - and you can enjoy them while having a delicious lunch. While lots of English vineyards find themselves trying to lean into an unrelated history, Artelium focuses on connecting with the here-and-now, through celebrating local artists and exceptional produce. The result is an experience that leaves you delighted in the present, and excited about what the future holds.

The Wine
Artelium produces a range of award-winning still and sparkling English wines, crafted from classic grape varieties like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Gris. Their portfolio includes celebrated offerings such as Blanc de Blancs, Curators Cuvée, and Rosé.The wines have received significant acclaim. At the Decanter World Wine Awards 2024, Artelium earned two gold medals for its sparkling Blanc de Blancs 2018 and Curators Cuvée 2018. Previously, at the Wine GB Awards 2022, Artelium was named Supreme Champion and Best Newcomer, also winning Best Blanc de Blancs and Best Sparkling for their Blanc de Blancs 2015. Their 2017 Nature Series Cuvée also secured a Gold at the Independent English Wine Awards.
Artelium is committed to sustainable practices, having signed up to the WINEGB Sustainable Wine Certification in 2020. They champion low-impact viticulture, focusing on soil health, biodiversity, and reducing chemical inputs. This includes planting wildflowers between vine rows to attract pollinators, and utilizing sheep for natural grazing to manage grass. They also cultivate disease-resistant PIWI (fungus resistant) varieties as part of their environmental commitment.
The estate has its own winery at the Madehurst Vineyard site (this is not at its visitor site), which produced its first vintage in 2022.
