The Wine
Bluestone Vineyards specialises in producing high-quality English Sparkling Wines, primarily from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes grown on their 10-acre estate. Their limited release 'English fizz' range includes the Premier Cuvée, Cuvée Rosé, Blanc de Noirs, Premier Rosé, and Saignée Rosé. The vineyard consistently earns recognition for its exceptional wines, notably receiving two Silver Medals for their Premier Cuvée 2019 and Cuvée Rosé 2019 at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2024. Their Blanc de Noirs 2019 has also been awarded Platinum status. The vineyard adopts a holistic approach to regenerative farming and focuses on minimal intervention viticulture. They use practices such as targeted spraying based on spore capturing and weather systems to manage the vines effectively, ensuring preventive measures are only used when necessary. The estate also leverages natural resources, using water from an inherited borehole and operating on solar power. While not certified organic (as they believe it would require excessive copper sulphate in their climate), their methods aim to promote biodiversity and healthier soils, including allowing chalk grassland to thrive between the vines.
Bluestone Vineyards operates its own winery, with grapes hand-harvested and vinified on site to produce their distinctive Cuvées.
