What's the vibe?

Southcott Vineyard Partnership is a small family-run vineyard in the Pewsey Vale in Wiltshire, set beneath the Pewsey White Horse. Established in 2005 by the Ingram Hill family, the site was previously home to an earlier vineyard planted with German varieties - a chapter that ended when the previous owners' health declined. The current vineyard focuses on producing English sparkling wine from a single site and operates on a small, hands-on scale.

Southcott Vineyard does not operate regular public opening hours. Visits and tastings are available by prior arrangement only, and visitors are encouraged to contact the vineyard directly to enquire about availability. The vineyard also takes part in occasional local events and seasonal activities - including harvest picking days, Easter markets and Christmas fairs - with details available via the events page on their website.

Southcott Vineyard produces English sparkling wine from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier - the classic trio associated with traditional-method sparkling wine - grown on a single site of under two hectares in the Pewsey Vale. The soils here are chalk and greensand, sitting beneath the Pewsey Downs on the edge of Salisbury Plain, giving the vineyard a terroir character that has more in common with the great English sparkling wine counties than is immediately obvious from this landlocked Wiltshire setting.

Winemaking is carried out off site by Emma Rice, formerly head winemaker at Hattingley Valley, one of England's most respected sparkling wine producers. The collaboration brings serious technical credentials to a very small-scale operation.

Southcott wines have attracted consistent recognition at competition level. The vineyard took a Gold Medal at WineGB 2023, Silver at the national WineGB competition in 2021 and at the regional Wessex WineGB competition in both 2021 and 2022, and the Roger Marchbank Cup in 2021 for the best sparkling wine from a vineyard under two hectares. Earlier results include a Wessex Vineyard Bronze in 2017 and a UKVA Bronze in 2013. Wine is available to buy directly through the vineyard's website.
