What's the vibe

Visitors can expect a tranquil, picturesque setting on a south-facing slope overlooking rolling countryside, embodying a genuine dedication to viticulture that spans decades.

Visiting information

Opening Hours:

The vineyard is generally open Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. For general wine sales, the vineyard shop is open on Saturdays between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. It's always advisable to phone ahead, particularly if traveling a significant distance, as the owners live on-site and availability can vary.Tours & Tastings:

Guided tours are held throughout the growing season, offering an informative talk in the vineyard and winery, followed by a tasting of four of Eglantine's wines. These experiences typically last 1.5 to 2 hours and include a complimentary welcome drink. Booking is essential as places fill quickly. Winery Open Days are also scheduled periodically.

The Wine

Eglantine Vineyard produces a diverse range of wines from grapes grown on their south-facing slopes, including still white, sparkling white, still rosé, sparkling rosé, and still red wines. They also craft unique specialty wines such as a sweet and fruity Cherry Wine and a traditional Mead made from honey harvested from their own beehives. Their English Sparkling Wines are made using the traditional method, predominantly from Seyval and Madeleine Angevine grapes.

Awards:

The vineyard's flagship dessert wine, 'North Star', has garnered significant acclaim, winning numerous awards. The 2018 vintage of North Star recently received a Silver Medal at the Global Wine Masters competition, contributing to an impressive tally of 26 awards in total, including 12 Golds and four Trophies, across only eight vintages. This international recognition highlights its exceptional quality, noted for its fruity bouquet, smooth texture, and complex flavors of apricot, mango, and marmalade.

Viticulture & Winery:

Eglantine Vineyard cultivates a variety of grapes including Madeleine Angevine, Pinot Noir, Regent, Chardonnay, Seyval Blanc, Pinot Meunier, and Malbec. The grapes are transformed into wine at their purpose-built on-site winery, where Head Winemaker Tony Skuriat employs traditional methods. While Eglantine Vineyard embraces natural practices like bee-keeping, it is not formally certified as Organic or Regenerative.
