The Wine
Return to contents
Wolstonbury Vineyard produces a small range of still and sparkling wines from its single estate. Still wines include Bacchus and a Bacchus–Reichensteiner blend. Their sparkling wine, ‘Chalk’, is made from Reichensteiner using the Charmat method — a relatively uncommon approach in England, chosen to suit the vineyard’s aromatic fruit profile.
More recently, the vineyard has planted Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, intended for future traditional-method sparkling wines. All vines are planted on chalk soils, which contribute freshness, minerality, and naturally high acidity.
The vineyard is managed with a strong emphasis on biodiversity and minimal intervention, encouraging wildlife and maintaining a balanced ecosystem across the site.
