What's the vibe
Abingworth feels like a vineyard at an early but confident stage. It’s low-key, practical, and very much focused on getting the wines right rather than building a visitor experience around them. This isn’t somewhere you turn up for a long afternoon tasting; it’s a working vineyard and winery, best approached with curiosity rather than expectations of hospitality polish.

The Wine
Return to contents
Abingworth currently produces a small range of still English wines, including one of the UK’s relatively rare Sauvignon Blancs and a Pinot Noir rosé. Production is deliberately small-scale, with a low-intervention approach and an emphasis on retaining freshness and balance.
An on-site winery allows close control over the process from harvest through to bottling. The vineyard has also indicated plans to release its first traditional-method sparkling wine as the vines mature, with an initial release expected in the coming years.

For the extra curious
Return to contents
Abingworth’s winery was built to support small-batch production rather than visitor flow. Everything is designed around efficiency and control, allowing wines to be made, handled, and bottled on site without unnecessary movement or intervention.
The vineyard works with a mix of classic varieties and newer plantings, giving the team flexibility as vines mature and conditions change. Still wine currently dominates production, but the longer-term plan includes traditional-method sparkling wine once yields and quality are consistent enough to support it.
It’s a quietly ambitious setup — less about making a statement now, more about building something sustainable and adaptable for the next stage of the vineyard’s life.
