Their vineyards are planted with classic grape varietals such as Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, Solaris, and other unique grapes like Pinot Noir Précoce, Rondo, and Seyval Blanc, allowing for a diverse portfolio.Hencote wines have garnered significant recognition, winning numerous accolades at prestigious international competitions. Notably, they made history by becoming the first UK vineyard to win Gold medals at the International Wine Challenge (IWC) for two different still red wines: the Mark I 2018 and the Amphora Pinot Noir 2018. More recently, their wines, including Isadora 2019 and Mark IV 2022, have continued to receive Silver and Bronze awards at both the IWC and Decanter World Wine Awards in 2024.
The vineyard is committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship. They employ a minimal pesticide program and hand-work each vine, believing this meticulous approach allows for the authentic expression of their wine within the Shropshire terroir, while fostering a flourishing natural environment.
