The Wine
Adgestone Vineyard, as one of the oldest continuously operating commercial vineyards in the UK, is renowned for producing a range of English Still Wines, Country Wines, Sparkling Wines, and Liqueurs. A truly unique offering is "Something Blue," a lightly bubbling blue sparkling Cuvée. This distinct wine is the only blue sparkling wine made in the UK and is produced using the traditional method, resting on its lees for two years to develop complexity. Adgestone's wines have garnered recognition, contributing to the vineyard being ranked as the second-best vineyard in the UK to visit in 2021 by Magnet, based on visitor experience and facilities. The vineyard practices eco-friendly and sustainable viticulture. The advantageous chalky, south-facing slopes and almost frost-free microclimate of the Isle of Wight allow the vines to flourish without the need for insecticides. Wine production takes place in the on-site winery, which includes six subterranean cellars maintaining a consistent cool temperature. This natural environment enables the juice to ferment and the wine to mature without additives or complex chemistry.
