Vinebound Verdict
Recommended One of the most delightful tasting rooms I've had the pleasure of sipping wine in - the interiors are warm and the views, whether out to the vines or into the woods are enchanting. Each wine was served with a an elegant light bite that has me greedily wishing there was a restaurant here. My top tip is to find a way to walk around the vineyard if possible - it's a fairly steep climb to the top of St Martha's Hill, but the views are tremendous, and the secluded church (it can't be reached by car) makes it feel very special.

The Wine
Chilworth Manor Vineyard cultivates Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes across its 10-acre site to produce premium quality English rosé and sparkling wines. Their first still rosé was released from the 2016 vintage, while their first sparkling wine, from the 2017 vintage, was launched in 2021.The vineyard is a founding member of the Sustainable Wines of Great Britain (SWGB), established in 2020 to promote environmental sustainability in the UK wine industry. Their approach to viticulture emphasizes sustainability, having been one of the first British vineyards to formally achieve sustainable credentials by WineGB. Practices include mechanical hoeing to reduce herbicide use, maintaining grass cover between rows, and utilizing solar-generated electricity and rainwater run-off for crop management. They have also implemented an innovative fertigation system for efficient nutrient delivery and encourage biodiversity with initiatives like insect hotels ("Bug Manor") and on-site beehives..
