The Wine
Return to contents
High Clandon specializes in producing singular, aged-vintage-only English sparkling wines, crafted from the classic Champagne grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. These elegant Cuvées are made using the traditional method (Méthode Champenoise) and undergo extensive bottle maturation, typically for at least five years on their yeast lees.
The wines have received significant acclaim, earning "multi-award winning" status. High Clandon has been awarded the prestigious IWC Cellar Door of the Year trophy twice over for its exceptional visitor experience. Their sparkling wines have garnered an impressive collection of accolades, including four Gold medals at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships (CSWWC) between 2014 and 2019, and a total of 14 Gold and 16 Silver medals from various competitions between 2015 and 2023. Notable releases include the Cerulean Cuvée 2020 Prestige Vintage Brut and the Shakespearean Cuvée 2019 Prestige Vintage Brut.
High Clandon is a proud Founder Member of Sustainable Wines of Great Britain. The vineyard's sustainable practices are integrated throughout its 12-acre estate, encompassing wildflower meadows, a wildlife pond, a truffle orchard, and gardens. The vineyard lies on chalky limestone soil, sharing the same geology as the Champagne region, which significantly influences the grape character. While the vines are meticulously hand-manicured, the winemaking process itself is carried out off-site by the team of master winemakers at Litmus Wines.
High Clandon is also a Founder Member of the Vineyards of the Surrey Hills with the four other founders, Denbies, Albury, Chilworth Manor, Greyfriars. In 2025, they were joined by Tanhurst Vineyard and Soloms Court.
