The Wine
Highdown Vineyard produces award-winning white, rosé, red, and sparkling wines. Their current offerings include the elegant, traditionally made sparkling 'Harvest Moonshine' (Chardonnay and Pinot Noir), the fresh 'Briar Rose' sparkling rosé, and the crisp, still white 'South Down White' (a blend of Reichensteiner, Bacchus, Schönburger, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir). They have previously received recognition, such as a Silver World Wine Award from Decanter for their 'Miller's Reserve' rosé.The vineyard cultivates several grape varieties, including Bacchus, Schönburger, Reichensteiner, Rondo, Dornfelder, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. The owners emphasize that good wine begins in the vineyard, and their site on the south-facing slopes of the South Downs provides excellent growing conditions.
