Best Vineyards in Devon

Devon has a different feel to the South East — vineyards are often smaller, tucked into valleys and rolling hills where the climate is softer. Still wines are the main focus here, with whites and rosés showing real freshness, though you’ll also find sparkling wines from sites with the right exposure.

It’s a county made for combining wine with a holiday. Totnes and the South Hams area are good bases, close to both vineyards and the coast, while Exeter offers a city stop with easy access. Expect relaxed tastings, farm-shop cafés and vineyard walks rather than large-scale visitor centres.

For wine with a more laid-back West Country character, these are the Devon vineyards to start with.
