Visiting information

Tours & Tastings: Guided vineyard and winery tours require pre-booking and are typically available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Each tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours, providing insight into their winemaking process and concluding with a tasting of their latest vintages. Private tours are also available. Self-guided walks through the vines are an option year-round.

Cafe & Shop: The vineyard's "Kitchen + coffee bar" is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm, serving light bites, cakes, coffee, and their wines. They also offer a Breakfast Club (Friday-Sunday, 9 am-11 am) and lunch (Wednesday-Sunday, 12 pm-3 pm), featuring local cheeses, charcuterie platters, and open sandwiches. The cafe has won "Best Café + Tearoom of the Year" at the Devon Tourism Awards 2023/2024.
Accommodation: For those looking to extend their stay, Alder Vineyard offers two self-catering cottages on site, available year-round.
Children & Dogs: Children are welcome on tours, though parents are advised to consider if the experience is appropriate for them. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the outdoor areas, including the terraces, but are not permitted inside the tasting room or production facilities.
Special Events: The vineyard hosts various events throughout the year, including Christmas Shopping Events and participation in Devon Open Studios. They also offer wedding facilities.

The Wine

Alder Vineyard produces a range of English wines, including sparkling and still varieties. Their sparkling wines include a Sparkling Rosé and a Devon Sparkling Wine. For still wines, they offer a crisp Bacchus, a delicate Pinot Noir Rosé, and a red Pinot Noir. The vineyard crafts its wines from grape to bottle on-site within their own winery.

Their wines have received notable recognition, including a Gold award at the WineGB Awards 2023 for their Bacchus 2022, and a Silver award at the WineGB Awards 2022 for their Devon Sparkling Wine 2020. The Pinot Noir Rosé 2022 also secured a Silver at the WineGB Awards 2023.

Alder Vineyard is committed to sustainability and employs minimal intervention winemaking processes. They are actively working towards accreditation to become one of the UK’s most sustainable vineyards.
