Site header on every page reads: "Open by appointment for sales: Wed - Sat 12 - 5pm, Sun 12 - 4pm" - even wine sales require an appointment, not walk-in. Vineyard tours are separately bookable via a request form, and are currently closed except for one listed date during harvest.

What's the vibe?

Huxbear Vineyard offers a relaxed and personal introduction to English wine, set within the rolling landscape of Devon’s Teign Valley. Family-run and down to earth, the focus here is on thoughtful winemaking, sustainability, and sharing how the vineyard works, rather than a polished visitor attraction.

Tours & Tastings:

Huxbear operates on a pre-booked tour basis. Vineyard tours typically last around 90 minutes and conclude with a complimentary tasting of the wines, with a discount available on bottles purchased during the visit. Tours are currently closed and are expected to reopen in Spring 2026. Dates are arranged directly with the vineyard rather than running to a fixed weekly schedule. Non-walking tours can be accommodated by request for visitors with limited mobility.

Wine Sales:

Wine can be purchased by appointment from Monday to Saturday between 11am and 5pm, and on Sundays from 12pm to 4pm.

Dogs:

Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join vineyard tours.

Weddings & Private Occasions:
Huxbear supplies wine for weddings and private events. Further details are available on the vineyard website.

Shop:
Wines can also be purchased through the online shop, with a selection available to order direct from the vineyard.

Events:
Huxbear attends a number of food and drink festivals throughout the year, including the Moretonhampstead Food Festival and the Food Drink Devon Christmas Shop at Exeter Christmas Market, as well as charity tasting events. Check the events page for upcoming dates.

Huxbear Vineyard is a family-owned estate producing English still and sparkling wines from its Devon site. Grape varieties grown include Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Bacchus, Schönburger, and Siegerrebe, which are used to produce a range of white, rosé, red, orange, and sparkling wines.

The vineyard places a strong emphasis on low-intervention winemaking and sustainability. Huxbear operates entirely off-grid, with power generated primarily by an on-site solar array, and follows integrated pest management practices to reduce environmental impact. All wines produced are vegan-friendly. Winemaking takes place on site, allowing close control from grape to bottle.

Huxbear Vineyard is located near Chudleigh, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ13 0EH.

By public transport:
The nearest train station is Newton Abbot. From there, buses run to Chudleigh, or visitors can take a taxi, which typically takes around 10–12 minutes.
