What's the vibe

Fairmile Vineyard offers a genuinely warm and informal atmosphere set within an incredibly beautiful natural landscape, providing stunning views across the Stonor Valley. It's a boutique vineyard focused on providing a relaxing, enjoyable, and appreciative experience in a picturesque setting that William Morris once described as the "loveliest approach to any town in England."

Visiting information

Tours & Tastings: Fairmile Vineyard welcomes visitors for tours and tastings year-round, by appointment. Tours typically last about an hour, including a tutored tasting of their sparkling wines with views of the Chilterns National Landscape, and cost £15 per adult (children are free). Groups of six or more adults can often set their preferred date and time, while smaller groups can join existing scheduled tours.

Walk-ins & Cellar Door Sales: If you prefer not to take a full tour, you can book a slot to simply purchase a chilled bottle to enjoy on-site with your own picnic. Wine is also available for direct purchase from the cellar door on Saturdays (10am-Noon), Tuesdays (10am-Noon), and Thursdays (Noon-2pm).
Food & Drink: While there is no restaurant or cafe on site, visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic or arrange for one from a local supplier. Only non-alcoholic beverages brought from outside are permitted.
Special Events: The vineyard hosts special events, such as sushi and wine pairing experiences.
Accommodation: There is no accommodation directly on site, but the vineyard can recommend nearby options, including campsites, some within walking distance.
Children & Dogs: Children are welcome and tour participation for them is free. Well-behaved dogs are also generally welcome, though it is advised to check in advance.
Accessibility: The lower part of the vineyard is accessible for wheelchair users in dry weather.

The Wine

Fairmile Vineyard is dedicated to producing world-class English sparkling wines using the traditional method, focusing exclusively on this style. Their wines are crafted from the classic Champagne grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. Their range includes a Classic Cuvée, a Rosé, a Blanc de Blancs, and a Founders Reserve.

The vineyard's wines have garnered significant acclaim, winning numerous awards. In January 2020, Decanter magazine notably rated Fairmile Vineyard's maiden 2015 vintage as England's only "Outstanding" sparkling white wine, achieving 95-97 points out of 100. More recently, their Classic Cuvée received a Gold medal at the WineGB Awards 2025, and a Silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2024 (scoring 92 points/100). The Rosé also secured a Silver medal at the WineGB Awards 2024. In the Decanter World Wine Awards 2024, their Blanc de Blancs 2017 earned a Bronze medal. Fairmile Vineyard was also named "Best Sparkling Wine Producer - UK" by LUXlife magazine in 2022.

The vineyard is committed to sustainable practices, operating within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. They prioritize environmental stewardship by employing sustainable processes such as using natural fertilizers and allowing grasses and flowers to grow between the vine rows.

Fairmile Vineyard does not have an on-site winery; their wines are expertly made at Hambledon Vineyards in Hampshire.
