Visiting information

Louma Farm and Retreat operates primarily as an accommodation-based destination, ensuring privacy for its guests. Vineyard tours and wine tastings are offered as part of the guest experience.

Restaurant & Dining: Meals are included with your stay, with dining available in the Farmhouse Dining Room or the Main Barn. The focus is on a farm-to-fork approach, with ingredients often sourced directly from the farm's gardens, fields, and woods. Breakfast and lunch are typically buffet-style, while dinner features a changing nightly menu. A communal Braai/BBQ area is also available.
Accommodation: The retreat offers a variety of accommodation options, including 17 rooms, suites, cabins, shepherd's huts, and stone barns.
Children & Dogs: Louma Farm and Retreat is notably family-friendly, with facilities such as an outdoor play area, farm animal visits, and a play bus for children. Dogs are welcome in most areas, but must be kept on a leash due to the presence of free-roaming sheep on the working farm. Dog beds and hampers are provided in dog-friendly rooms.

The Wine

Louma Farm and Retreat cultivates a 30-acre vineyard planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and newer plantings of Pinot Gris and Divico. From these grapes, they produce a range of wines including Still White, Still Rosé, Sparkling White, and Sparkling Rosé. Notable expressions include the Louma Special Cuvée 2020, an English sparkling wine, an elegant Louma Pinot Noir 2021, a crisp Louma Chardonnay 2020, and a vibrant Louma Rosé 2020. The farm also produces its own apple juice and cider.

The vineyard employs regenerative farming practices, prioritizing soil health, biodiversity, and animal welfare across its 100-acre estate. This commitment extends to minimizing environmental impact and continuously improving sustainability. Louma operates its own winery, overseeing every step of the wine production from grape growing and pruning through to winemaking and bottling.
