The Wine
Painshill's vineyard, positioned on a south-facing slope overlooking the lake, continues a winemaking tradition dating back to Charles Hamilton's 18th-century estate. The vineyard primarily cultivates Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Seyval Blanc, and Pinot Grigio grapes. The wine produced is a sparkling white and a sparkling rosé. These award-winning sparkling wines are crafted by the respected Bluebell Vineyard Estate, rather than an on-site winery, and are exclusively available for purchase in the Painshill shop. While the vineyard itself is not explicitly certified organic, the estate's Kitchen Garden produces organic crops. The restoration of Painshill Park is managed by a registered charity, Painshill Park Trust, which underscores its commitment to preserving the historic landscape.
