What Makes a Vineyard Good for Father's Day Events
The appeal of a vineyard on Father's Day is that it gives you an afternoon rather than another thing to unwrap. A tasting, a long lunch or a drink in the sun all count, and most of the vineyards in this guide have built the day around exactly that.
In previous years, food has been the main draw at many Father's Day events. Kent's Westwell has run a taco lunch with T's Tacos, Burnt House in Suffolk a wagyu burger day, and Surrey's Denbies pizza, wine and beer on the lawn. Norfolk's Flint Vineyard has held a brunch.
Others have given dad something to do. Denbies has also run a nature train ride, Hampshire's Hambledon a rum and whisky tasting for anyone who fancies a change from wine, and Kent's Silverhand Estate a classic car fair where each registered car came with a magnum of wine to take home. For a more traditional day out, Essex's Crouch Ridge has run a grand tour and tasting.
Some vineyards have marked the day itself: Devon's Sandridge Barton has given dads a free drink.
