Visiting Silverhand Estate

Return to contents
Tours & Tastings: Silverhand offers guided vineyard and winery tours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, hosted from vintage Land Rovers that travel through the vines. These experiences cover organic viticulture, the estate's wildlife-first approach and winemaking, and include a tasting of five wines — a mix of still and sparkling. Guided tastings of five wines are also available independently, led by a trained member of the team. Both tours and tastings must be booked in advance. Cellar Door Wine Bar: The cellar door is open seven days a week and serves wines by the glass alongside charcuterie and cheese boards. On Fridays and Saturdays it stays open until 10pm, with a cheese and wine evening format from 5pm and small plates available from The Lion. No booking is required to drop in, though reservations are recommended for Friday and Saturday evenings and special events. Opening Hours: Sunday–Thursday 11am–6pm; Friday–Saturday 10am–10pm. Events: The estate runs a varied programme of seasonal events throughout the year, including picnics in the vines, cheese and wine pairings, art and painting evenings, fungi walks, bluebell walks, and monthly history tours of Luddesdown Court. Check the website for current listings and availability. Picnics: Picnic hampers for two, prepared by The Lion, are available to enjoy among the vines on Thursdays through Sundays.

The Wine at Silverhand Estate

Return to contents
Silverhand Estate produces a range of organic sparkling and still wines, with a particular emphasis on English sparkling wine. Key grape varieties include Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Solaris, grown across more than 900 acres — making this one of the largest single organic vineyard sites in the UK.

The soils at Luddesdown are chalky flint over Kimmeridge clay, the same geology that runs south into northern France's classic wine regions. The estate farms organically and incorporates livestock to support soil health and biodiversity, sitting within a Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The portfolio includes both Charmat method and traditional method sparkling wines, alongside organic still wines. Named bottlings include Silver Reign and Silver Reign Rosé. All wines are suitable for vegetarians and vegans and the estate has received recognition at the WineGB Awards (Silver, 2023).

Wines can be purchased online through the estate's shop or tasted on-site during booked visits and experiences.
