Best Vineyard Stays in Kent

Kent has a wider mix of vineyard stays than most counties, and most are self-catering rather than hotel-style. The choice runs from a cottage for two to a barn that sleeps 24.

Terlingham Vineyard's Terlingham Lane Cottage sleeps two, with a king-sized bedroom and its own kitchenette, and is open all year. Brabourne Vineyard's Fig Cottage sits in a listed courtyard building overlooking the vines and is let from a weekly rate. Woolton Farm, near Canterbury, offers the most variety: three self-catering cottages, eight bell tents from April to September, and a car-free self-pitch camping field. In the Weald, Brissenden Vineyard has a two-bedroom annexe that sleeps up to six, plus a campsite with four plots among the vines.

For a group, Brenley Wine, near Faversham, has a converted carriage barn, the Bunk Barn, that sleeps up to 24 with a kitchen, three bathrooms and a living room. A continental breakfast hamper can be booked in advance, and farm walks run through the hop gardens, vineyards and orchards. Brissenden can also arrange its campsite for groups and a function room by prior agreement.

For a single night away, Wildshark Vineyard offers The Grape Escape, an overnight package for couples. Oast Wood Vineyard has a one-bedroom barn on Potts Farm, booked through the farm.

Availability changes through the year and the best dates go first, so book early for summer weekends. The Woolton Farm bell tents run from April to September only, while its cottages and Terlingham Lane Cottage are open year-round. Book through each vineyard's own website for current availability.
