What's the vibe?
Most English vineyards sit on south-facing chalk in the Home Counties. Robin Hoods Bay Vineyard is on a hillside above one of Yorkshire's most-visited fishing villages, looking out toward the North Sea. Rebecca and Ian Sheveling planted 20,000 vines here in 2017 - a considered bet on a coastal microclimate and two robust grape varieties suited to the north. Their first wines followed in 2022. The vineyard sits within the North York Moors National Park area and is run by just the two of them, with seasonal help at harvest. Tours and tastings were recently approved by licence and are being developed. As English vineyards go, the setting is extraordinary.Visiting information Return to contents
