What's the vibe?

Alder Vineyard is welcoming, relaxed, and rooted in its Devon setting, sitting on the edge of Dartmoor with a strong focus on hospitality as well as wine. It works equally well as a café stop, a place to linger over a tasting, or a base for live music evenings, with a feel that’s informal, friendly, and very much part of the local community.

Tours and tastings: Guided vineyard tours last around 90 minutes and include a wine tasting in the winery. Tickets start from £20 per person for the standard tour, with a sunset tour available from £54.95 per person. Booking is required. Under-18s join daytime tours free of charge, though the tasting element is for adults. Personal assistants and carers receive complimentary tour tickets. See the full programme at aldervineyard.uk/tours. Kitchen + Bar: Serving an all-day brunch menu of open sandwiches on homemade sourdough, sharing platters, and local seasonal dishes. Window seating is popular - booking is recommended. The kitchen has been recognised as Best Casual Dining Venue in Devon 2025 and placed second across the UK. Accessibility: The Kitchen + Bar and gift shop are fully wheelchair accessible. The vineyard rows are on a slope and access there is limited, but the team is trained to adapt visits to suit individual needs - including reading menus and adjusting the environment in the restaurant. Alder Vineyard produces both still and sparkling English wines, made from Madeleine Angevine, Rondo, and Seyval Blanc. All wines are produced on site in Alder’s own winery, allowing close control from harvest through to bottling.

The wines have received multiple awards, including an IEWA Bronze medal and several WineGB West awards, reflecting consistency across both still and sparkling styles rather than one-off releases.
