What's the vibe?

The Secret Vineyard is a new venture from sisters Helen and Vicky Tate, the third generation to run Lime Cross Nursery, a Herstmonceux conifer nursery dating back to the 1940s. Helen studied viticulture and oenology at Plumpton College; the vines went in as the family's newest chapter alongside the nursery. There's a mirrored-glass ÖÖD House cabin by the lake available for holiday rental.

Standard tastings and tours are on the way. For now, visits happen through Wine Wellness Days: yoga or Pilates, wild swimming in the lake, a two-course lunch paired with the vineyard's wines, and a vineyard tour, bookable via the Lime Cross Nursery website.

The vineyard grows Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay by hand, with still wines from the 2022 harvest: a Chardonnay and a Rosé, both around £22.
