The 14 Best English Sparkling Rosés
11 Oct 2026 · By Stephen Pritchard in Wine Guides
English sparkling rosé is winning trophies at WineGB, Decanter and the International Wine Challenge, and the best of it costs £23 to £60 a bottle. This guide ranks 14 by what they have won, says which vintage won (it is often not the one on the shelf), and adds five I have tasted and enjoyed, including a pét-nat and a tank-method pink. My own favourite is Oastbrook's 2018, which is also the wine WineGB named Best Sparkling Rosé in 2026.
If you only buy one
- Best overall: Oastbrook Sparkling Rosé 2018, £38. Trophy winner and my favourite.
- Best for a special occasion: Digby 2018 Vintage Rosé Brut, £60. A Decanter trophy at 97 points.
- Best pét-nat: Westwell Petulant Nature Pink 2025, £28.
- Cheapest on the list: Flint Charmat Rosé, £23, made by the tank method.
- Best from a supermarket: Camel Valley Pinot Noir Rosé Brut at Waitrose, £39 (£29.50 on offer when checked), an IWC gold.
- Best you cannot visit: Wyfold, £38 through Laithwaites.
The medal table
Every result below is for sparkling rosé in 2025 or 2026, across WineGB, Decanter, the International Wine Challenge, IWSC, the Sommelier Wine Awards and the Independent English Wine Awards. Check the vintage column: a trophy for a 2018 does not guarantee the bottle you buy today is the same wine.

How English sparkling rosé is made
Two choices decide the style: how the bubbles get in, and how the wine gets its colour.
The bubbles
Traditional method is the Champagne method: the second fermentation happens in the bottle, and the wine then rests on its lees. Oastbrook's 2018 spent 63 months on the lees before disgorgement, and Harrow & Hope's 2022 had 30 months. Most of this list is made this way.
Tank method (Charmat) puts the second fermentation in a sealed tank instead. It is quicker and cheaper, and it gives a fresher, fruitier wine. Flint says its Charmat Rosé was the first of its kind made in the UK.
Pét-nat is bottled before the first fermentation has finished, so the fizz is natural and the wine is often cloudy and a little funky. Westwell's is sealed with a crown cap and has no added sulphur.
The colour
Rosé can get its colour from a short soak on the skins, or by blending in a little red wine. Winding Wood assembles its Brut Rosé with a small amount of its own Pinot Noir red wine. Westwell's 2014 Special Pink (now sold out) was made by saignée, which bleeds off pink juice early so the pink comes from the grapes' own skins. Most of the wines here use Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, often with Chardonnay. Westwell's pét-nat is the exception: Ortega, a white grape, with a touch of the red Regent.
What it tastes like
Red berry fruit and a creamy, biscuity depth from the lees are the common threads. Oastbrook's own notes list wild strawberries, raspberries and crunchy red apple with a hint of spicy brioche. Bolney's Cuvée Rosé has red apple, cranberry and brioche with a dry finish. Chartham's has pomegranate and redcurrant. Camel Valley's is floral and delicately strawberry with crisp acidity. The tank-method and pét-nat styles are fruitier and more playful, and the trophy winners tend to be richer and more complex.
My Personal Favourites
Oastbrook: Sparkling Rosé 2018
Location: Bodiam, near Robertsbridge, East Sussex
My favourite English sparkling rosé of last year, and one of my favourite wines overall. I drank it on the terrace with friends, on a weekend exploring the Rother Wine Triangle. We took a bottle back with us and drank it that night, then kicked ourselves for not buying a case.
It is also the wine WineGB named Best Sparkling Rosé in 2026. The blend is 70% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier and 10% Chardonnay, pressed in a traditional Coquard press and left on the lees for 63 months before disgorgement. The 2018 is £38.
Visit: the Owner's Tour & Tasting is £45 a head, at weekends from April to October (and Thursdays and Fridays from July to early September). Booking is essential, and a winery tour and tasting runs from November to April.
Westwell: Petulant Nature Pink 2025
Location: Charing, Kent
I will admit I came to this unfairly. I tried it straight after their Petulant Nature Chardonnay, which turned out to be my favourite wine of 2026, and with that for company the rosé seemed just ok. It is a different animal: Ortega, a white grape, with a touch of Regent, so it leans towards blackcurrant and hedgerow fruit rather than the strawberry of a Pinot rosé. I bought their pét-nat trio (the Chardonnay, the Pink and Naturally Petulant), and when I opened the pink a couple of months later I saw how wrong I had been: fruity and fresh, a joy, with just the touch of funk you want from a pét-nat.
It is unfiltered, bottled before the fermentation finishes and sealed with a crown cap, at 11.5% ABV. The 2025 is £28.
Visit: open Friday to Sunday (Friday 12 to 9, Saturday 11 to 5, Sunday 12 to 4).
Chartham Vineyard: Rosé de Noir 2022
Location: Chartham, near Canterbury, Kent
We tasted this on one of the few days of summer 2026 that saw a torrential downpour, and it still tasted of pomegranate, redcurrant and ripe red summer berries, bright and crisp however grey the sky. Proof that rosé is not only a drink for sunny days.
It is 100% Pinot Noir from the estate, made by the bottle-fermentation method, at 13% ABV. The 2022 is £29.95.
Visit: open Saturdays from February to December, 10.30 to 5, with tours and tastings at 11am and 2pm, and a free art gallery.
Mountfield: Rosé Reserve NV
Location: Robertsbridge, East Sussex
Incredibly easy drinking: more straightforward than their standard cuvée or Blanc de Blancs, and when it is this delightful, who cares. It is mainly the 2020 vintage with a little reserve wine blended in, and it is £37 a bottle (sold as a pair for £74, or six for £222).
Visit: open on set open days listed on their events page, when you can wander the vines and taste in the restored stables with no booking needed. In winter it is by appointment, apart from Christmas tasting days (11 and 12 December this year). It features in our Rother Wine Triangle weekend.
Swanaford: Sparkling Rosé 2021
Location: Bridford, near Exeter, Devon
People say "strawberries and cream" about English rosé, still or sparkling, and you will hear it all the time. This was the rich version: dollops of thick cream, not single.
It is a blend of the estate's Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier from south-east-facing Dartmoor slopes, made by the traditional method. The 2018 won gold at the Independent English Wine Awards 2020. The 2021 is £31.95.
Visit: self-guided walks with a three-wine flight (£15, no booking) run from April to the end of September. Guided tours and tastings are £20, and the estate suggests calling ahead on 07956 306 872.
The trophy winners
Winding Wood: Brut Rosé
Location: near Hungerford, Berkshire
A Decanter trophy in 2026 for the 2022, at 97 points, and a WineGB trophy for Best Sparkling Rosé in 2024 for the 2020. The first fermentation is in oak barrel, the second in the bottle, and the rosé is assembled with a small amount of Pinot Noir red wine. The 2022 and the 2023 are both listed at £42.50, and the wines sell out every year.
Visit: cellar-door sales are by appointment, and owner-led tours for groups of four or more run at weekends from May to October.
Digby Fine English: 2018 Vintage Rosé Brut
Location: Arundel, West Sussex
The 2018 Vintage Rosé Brut won a Decanter trophy in 2025 at 97 points. It is 58% Pinot Noir, 22% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay, from the first grapes harvested at Digby's Hilden Vineyard in Kent, and it costs £60 (£48 for Kenelm Club members). The Leander Pink Brut NV, £39, took gold at WineGB 2026 and is the cheaper way in.
Visit: the tasting room on Arundel High Street is open Thursday to Sunday, year round.

Black Chalk: Wild Rosé 2022
Location: near Andover, Hampshire
The Wild Rosé 2021 won WineGB's Best Sparkling Rosé trophy in 2025 with 95 points, and the 2022 followed with a silver at Decanter at 90. The 2021 is listed as an annual-member product (£65), so the 2022 at £45 is the one to buy.
Visit: open daily, 10 to 5, from March to December. Closed in January and February.
Bolney Wine Estate: Cuvée Rosé 2019
Location: Bolney, West Sussex
The 2016 won an IWC trophy in 2026, and the 2019 now on sale is the same style: Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier with red apple, cranberry and toasted brioche, and a dry finish after longer lees ageing. It is £40 (£34 for wine club members).
Visit: open daily, 9 to 5, all year, with a café, wine bar and restaurant on site (their opening times vary).
Chapel Down: Rosé NV
Location: Tenterden, Kent
An IWC trophy in 2026, and the 2021 Rosé Reserve took silver at WineGB 2025 with 93 points. The NV is £34, and you will also find it at Waitrose, Sainsbury's and Tesco.
Visit: open daily, 10 to 5, all year, with a vineyard walk, tasting bar and shop.

Wyfold: English Sparkling Rosé
Location: Peppard Common, near Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire
Barbara Laithwaite planted Wyfold in 2003 and Henry Laithwaite, of Harrow & Hope, makes the wine. The rosé won gold at WineGB in both 2025 (the 2019, 95 points) and 2026 (the 2020), with silvers at Decanter and IWC, and an IWSC trophy in 2024. It is sold through Laithwaites at £38.
Visit: Wyfold is a working vineyard with no cellar door or tours, so this one is a buy-only wine.
More worth tracking down
Harrow & Hope: Brut Rosé 2022
Location: Marlow, Buckinghamshire
Gold at WineGB 2025 (the 2021, 95 points) and at the Sommelier Wine Awards 2026. The 2022 is 40% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Meunier, with 30% barrel-fermented and 30 months on the lees. It pours a pale salmon, and the vineyard describes it as edging closer to Champagne than to classic English sparkling. It is £38 a bottle, or £228 for six.
Visit: winery tours in Marlow are pre-booked, and the dates are on their site.
Camel Valley: Pinot Noir Rosé Brut 2022
Location: Nanstallon, near Bodmin, Cornwall
The 2022 took gold at the International Wine Challenge in 2025, and the 2023 did the same in 2026. It is light pink, floral and delicately strawberry, with crisp acidity, at 12.5%. It is £36 from the vineyard and around £29.50 at Waitrose.
Visit: open Monday to Friday, 10 to 5, all year, and closed at weekends. Tours and wine by the glass must be pre-booked.

Flint Vineyard: Charmat Rosé NV
Location: Earsham, near Bungay, Norfolk
The tank-method wine on this list, and the cheapest at £23. Flint calls it its most popular wine and the first of its kind made in the UK: second fermentation in tank, strawberry-pink and fruit-led. It is a fun, easy pink more than a collector's one, and it won bronze at WineGB 2026.
Visit: open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 to 4, all year.
