Website is entirely a private wedding-barn venue site (Pinglestone Barn) - no mention anywhere of public vineyard tours, tasting room, shop, or any walk-in visiting route. Vines produce grapes for the Louis Pommery label but there is no consumer-facing way to visit as a normal vineyard guest.

What's the vibe?

Pinglestone Estate sits in the quiet Hampshire countryside near Alresford, with views across the South Downs National Park and the chalk streams of the Itchen and Arle valleys. The site has a long history - evidence of Neolithic, Roman and medieval occupation has been found here, and the tithe barn on the estate dates to the 15th century when it was built for the Bishop of Winchester. That sense of deep-rooted place gives the vineyard a grounding that few in England can match.

Tours: The vineyard offers guided tours covering viticulture and winemaking from grape to glass, finishing with a tasting session in the historic Pinglestone Barn. Tours are priced from £20 per person and must be booked in advance through the estate website. Check the website for current dates and availability.

Cellar Door: Wines can be purchased directly from the estate, including Louis Pommery Brut and Louis Pommery Rosé, available by the case.

Special Events: The barn is available for weddings, corporate events, team-building days, AGMs, and film, TV and photography shoots. The estate's easy access, parking and adaptable spaces make it a practical as well as striking venue.

Accommodation: For those wishing to extend their stay, Pinglestone offers two on-site options: Barn Lodge, a country cottage with a quiet rural outlook, and The Arle Hut, a more secluded shepherd's hut. Both can be booked directly through the estate.

Pinglestone Estate specialises in crafting traditional method English sparkling wines. The vineyard cultivates classic Champagne grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and also Pinot Gris.

The sparkling wines produced from Pinglestone grapes are award-winning. Notably, the Louis Pommery England label, which uses fruit from the estate, received gold medals in 2016 and 2017. This brand holds the distinction of being the first English sparkling wine to be released by a Champagne house.

The estate is committed to sustainable viticulture, implementing regenerative farming practices that champion local biodiversity. Pinglestone Estate was certified as a 'Sustainable Wine of Great Britain' in 2021. Their approach includes balancing the vines with existing natural habitats, encouraging insect, bird, and invertebrate life, planting wildflowers, avoiding herbicide application, and reducing pesticide use. They have also introduced beehives to the vineyard and dedicate areas for biodiversity, including woods, isolated trees, hedges, and grass for sheep grazing.

While the estate has secured planning permission for its own on-site winery, expected to be ready for the 2025 vintage, wines are currently produced at Hattingley Valley's facilities. The future winery will be dedicated solely to producing Pinglestone's own sparkling wines.

By Car: The vineyard is conveniently located just off the A31, approximately seven miles from Winchester.

By Public Transport: The nearest mainline train stations are Winchester and Alton. From Winchester, you can take a Stagecoach bus (routes 64 or 67) to Alresford, which takes approximately 19-26 minutes. From Alresford town centre, a short taxi ride can take you directly to the vineyard. Local taxi services include Alresford Town Private Hire Ltd.
