Set at the highest point of the South Downs National Park, Weybourne Estate combines a deeply historic manor - established in 1600- with a boutique sparkling wine operation producing wines from classic Champagne varieties grown on ancient chalk soils. The experience is intimate and unhurried, centred on tours, tastings, and a handful of distinctive event spaces that make the most of the 190-metre elevation and long views over rolling hills to the distant sea.

Tours and Tastings
Weybourne Estate offers private vineyard tours and wine tastings of its award-winning English sparkling wines, with a minimum group size of 6, currently at £35pp. Advance booking is essential.

Events
The estate runs a varied events programme, including polo training days with a wine tasting and barbecue.
Three distinct spaces are available for private hire, suitable for corporate, networking, personal, workshop, community, and charity occasions:

• The Dovecote - standing 20, seated 10. A charming setting for private dining, family celebrations, and corporate gatherings, with a pergola suited to outdoor dining and BBQs.
• The Bathing House - standing 20, seated 10. An intimate outdoor space with a rich history, dating to the 1800s.
• The Viewing Platform - standing 80, seated 30. Situated at 190m above sea level, with sweeping views across the South Downs, suited to celebrations and special occasions.

Weybourne Estate is a single-estate sparkling wine producer working with the classic Champagne trio of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. The vines were first planted in 2007 on Blackdown, the highest point of the South Downs National Park, where ancient chalk soils and a cool maritime climate closely mirror the conditions that make the Champagne region so suited to fine sparkling wine.

The estate's wines have attracted serious critical recognition. The Weyborne Oriana 2019 was awarded a Gold medal at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) in 2025, while the Classic Cuvée Brut 2018 was named among Tom Cannavan's Wines of the Year 2024 on Wine-Pages.com. Winemaker Benjamin Abric has spoken about the estate's approach in depth on the Club Oenologique podcast series.

The setting adds its own dimension to the wines. At 190 metres above sea level, the vineyard sits at the source of the River Wey, with views reaching across rolling hills to the distant sea. The same elevated position that once attracted visitors including King Edward VII, George Bernard Shaw, and Alfred Lord Tennyson now provides the cool, bright growing conditions that give the sparkling wines their characteristic freshness and structure.

The estate's history stretches back to 1600, when the Yaldwyn family built the manor at the foot of the ancient River Wey. The Bathing House - now one of the estate's private event spaces - dates from the 1800s and was once a retreat for Lord Alfred Tennyson. That accumulated sense of place runs quietly through everything the estate produces.

By Car
Weybourne Estate is located near Haslemere in Surrey, on the southern edge of the South Downs National Park. Haslemere is roughly 50 miles south-west of London, accessed via the A3. The estate sits at the top of Blackdown, the highest point in the South Downs - the final approach is a country lane, so allow extra time if visiting for the first time.

By Public Transport
Haslemere is served by direct trains from London Waterloo, with a journey time of around an hour. From Haslemere station, the estate is around 4 miles away - there is a taxi rank at the station which usually has cars waiting, but pre-arranged transport is advisable for the return journey. It is possible to walk to the vineyard, largely through National Trust land, if you have a couple of hours spare, though the terrain is hilly.
