Burn Valley Vineyard

Cellar door at the vineyard offers casual wine tastings (£10pp) - Tue-Sat in summer, Saturday only in winter. Self-guided vineyard walking tours also available during opening hours (~30 min, dogs on leads welcome). Guided tastings run on specific days per the events page.

Open year-round

Burn Valley Vineyard is open to visitors throughout the year. The on-site shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm. The shop is closed on Sundays.

Tours & Tastings

Tastings run on Thursdays and Saturdays from April through to October, and on selected Saturdays between November and April. The standard tasting lasts around two hours, includes a platter of charcuterie, local cheeses, seafood, homemade focaccia and antipasto, and is priced from £40 per person. Booking is required for hosted tastings.

More casual drop-in tastings are available at the shop, from £10 per person, with no advance booking needed.

Private tours with head winemaker Mathew Abbey or assistant winemaker Hamish are available on Fridays. These run for approximately three hours, include a vineyard and winery tour plus an exclusive tasting, and are priced from £100 per person. Advance booking is required. A self-guided walk around the vineyard is also available to visitors.

Food on site

Burn Valley Catering, run by chef Steve Newsome and Laura Robinson, provides food during tasting sessions. The summer platter features charcuterie, local cheeses, seafood, homemade focaccia and antipasto; the winter version includes melted camembert. Food is served as part of hosted tastings rather than as a standalone café service.

Shop

The on-site shop stocks Burn Valley wines and is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Wines are also available through the online shop.

Wine club

Accessibility

The vineyard is wheelchair accessible. Free on-site parking is available. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on leads.

Burn Valley Vineyard grows a wide range of grape varieties, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Bacchus, Solaris, Rondo and Regent across 12 acres of south-facing, free-draining flinty soil with a chalk base. These are used to produce a varied portfolio of English still and sparkling wines, including white, red, rosé and dessert styles.

Winemaking is led by head winemaker Mathew Abbey, supported by assistant winemaker Hamish, with production taking place on site from harvest through to bottling. Burn Valley Vineyard's wines have received recognition in English wine competitions, reflecting the estate's focus on quality and careful winemaking.

The vineyard follows a low-intervention approach to viticulture and operates without the use of glyphosate, relying on mechanical methods for weed control. This approach supports biodiversity across the vineyard and surrounding land.

The vineyard sits four miles from the North Norfolk coast, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty — a setting that shapes the character of the wines grown here.

Burn Valley is a family estate with roots going back further than the vines. John and Jeffrey Robinson bought the farm in 1989, and it was John who first had the idea to plant a vineyard. His daughter Laura took up the challenge, planting 17,000 vines and establishing the vineyard — making the Robinsons third-generation Norfolk farmers turning their hand to English wine. The estate exports its wines internationally.
