What's the vibe?

New Hall Vineyards offers a charming and welcoming atmosphere, praised for its friendly, knowledgeable staff and picturesque views over the vines. It's a family-run operation with a working farm feel, providing a relaxed setting to enjoy English wines.

Opening Hours
The Cellar Door Shop is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm for bottle sales only. Social Saturdays run from Easter weekend (Saturday 4th April 2026) through to 19th September 2026, with the Tasting Shed open from 10am to 5pm - wine by the glass, self-guided tastings, and local food pop-ups included. The Cellar Door also reopens on select Saturdays in November and December for festive events. No booking needed for Social Saturdays; just turn up.

Tours & Tastings
Visitors are welcome to pop in for wine tasting in the cellar shop and can enjoy a self-guided walk along the vineyard trail. The estate has introduced self-guided wine flights - a choice of three pre-selected wines to work through at your own pace, no guide required.

For a more structured visit, the Friday Tasting Experience runs for around three hours and combines a guided tour of the vineyard and winery with a tutored tasting of still and sparkling wines, plus a locally sourced light lunch or charcuterie box. Prices start from £30 per person; booking is required.

Corporate and private group experiences are available for parties of 25–30 on selected Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the year, with bespoke itineraries that can include winery tours, sparkling wine in the cellar, wine quizzes, and branded bottle gifts.

Dining
There is no full restaurant on site. On Social Saturdays, local food pop-ups set up alongside the Tasting Shed, and visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic on any visit. Wine is available by the glass at the Tasting Shed on Saturdays; bottles can be purchased from the Cellar Door Shop throughout the week.

Events
New Hall Vineyards hosts various Open Estate Days throughout the year, which may include barrel-top tastings and winery tours. Their annual Christmas Wine Sale Weekend is a free event offering wine sales and festive activities. Other events have included wine dinners and wreath-making classes - check the website for the current calendar.

Vine Leasing
The estate runs a vine leasing scheme that lets you take ownership of a row of 80–90 vines for a year. The New Hall team grows and harvests the grapes on your behalf, then vinifies them into your chosen wine style - typically around 240 bottles per row. Leaseholders receive a 10% discount card for use in the Cellar Door Shop. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Accessibility
The Cellar Door shop, Tasting Shed, Winery, and an accessible toilet are all reachable by wheelchair, with ramps provided and designated accessible parking in the Courtyard. A drop-off point is available on Open Estate Days. Some outdoor terrain and parts of the Courtyard are uneven, and there are a couple of small internal steps in the Winery, so it is worth contacting the team in advance if you have specific access requirements. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the shop and on the vineyard trail, but not inside the Winery. Children and families are equally at home here, particularly on Social Saturdays and Open Estate Days.

New Hall Vineyards produces a diverse range of still and sparkling wines. Their portfolio includes popular English varieties such as Bacchus, classic Germanic grapes, and red and rosé wines, with new plantings of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier specifically for sparkling wine production. The vineyard cultivates numerous other grape varieties, including Huxelrebe, Chardonnay, Ortega, and Pinot Noir Précoce.

New Hall wines are frequently recognised with awards. Notably, their former winemaker, Piers Greenwood, was awarded UKVA Winemaker of the Year in 2013, 2015, and was a joint winner in 2016, highlighting the consistent quality of the wines produced. The vineyard is celebrated as a home of award-winning still and sparkling wines.

The vineyard boasts an impressive, modern winery on-site, equipped with stainless steel tanks and wine presses. This integrated approach allows them to oversee the entire winemaking process from grape to bottle, ensuring high standards for their acclaimed wines.

By Car
New Hall Vineyards is located in Purleigh, Essex. From the A12, take the A414 towards Maldon, then continue straight onto the B1010. The vineyard is approximately 2 miles down the road on the left.

By Public Transport
The closest train station is North Fambridge, which is about a 45-minute train journey from London Liverpool Street Station. A taxi from North Fambridge station to the vineyard takes approximately 10 minutes, and pre-booking a taxi is advisable.
