Toppesfield Vineyard offers a serene and luxurious escape, where a modern Scandinavian-style villa seamlessly blends with the rolling vineyard landscape. It's a place for peace and quiet, with meticulous attention to detail that ensures a comfortable and stylish stay.

General Access: Visits to Toppesfield Vineyard are by appointment only.

Tours & Tastings: Exclusive private tours and tutored wine tastings are available for guests staying in the on-site luxury accommodation. These run on Saturdays and are priced from £25 per person, including a selection of still wines and canapés. Advance booking is required.

Accommodation: The vineyard boasts a contemporary Scandi-style eco villa, perfect for two to four adults. Two-night stays start from £480 for two guests or from £880 for four. The villa features two luxury en-suite bedrooms with superking beds, a fully equipped kitchen, a private patio with BBQ and pizza oven, a nickel bar, a tennis court, and a four-person jacuzzi with views over the vineyard. High-tech amenities include a 75-inch TV with Sky Q, a Sonos sound system, Alexa-controlled services, and high-speed fibre broadband. Wines and microbrewery beers are stocked in the honesty bar, and a complimentary bottle of wine and arrival hamper are included. Food & Drink: While there is no restaurant on site, the villa is equipped with a kitchen for self-catering, an outdoor cooking area with a BBQ and pizza oven, and a bar area. Guests can arrange for local takeaways to deliver, or explore nearby pubs and restaurants.

Special Events: Toppesfield Vineyard hosts cultural events, including an annual grape harvest and the Toppesfield Sculpture & Wine Festival (next event: Friday 12 June to Sunday 14 June 2026). The Wine Centre is also available for private hire on a dry-hire basis for groups of more than four guests; bespoke packages can be arranged on request via the website. See upcoming events.

Online Shop: Toppesfield wines are available to buy directly from the vineyard's online shop, or by appointment from the Cellar Door.

Dogs & Children: The luxury accommodation is designed for two to four adults; children and dogs are not generally permitted at the villa. Children are welcome at the annual Sculpture & Wine Festival, where a dedicated sculpture workshop runs across the weekend.

Toppesfield Vineyard focuses on producing fine English wines from two primary grape varieties: Bacchus for their crisp white wines and Pinot Noir Précoce for their delicate rosé. They also craft small quantities of sparkling wines, including a Classic Brut from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, and a Sparkling Rosé from Pinot Noir.

Their wines have garnered an extensive array of regional, national, and international accolades since their first vintage in 2016. The vineyard's Bacchus Reserve 2016 notably won a Gold Award at the 12th Sommelier Wine Awards. They have been awarded East Anglia's Wine of the Year three times and a Gold Medal for four vintages. In 2022, their Pinot Rosé received a Gold Medal and was named Rosé Wine of the Year Eastern Region, while their Bacchus secured a Silver Medal. More recently, at the 2025 East of England Wine Awards, their Bacchus Reserve 2024 received a Bronze Medal and their Pinot Rosé 2024 earned a Silver Medal.

The vineyard practices sustainable viticulture and employs minimal intervention. They use organic fertilisers and natural pest control methods to maintain a healthy ecosystem within the vineyard, encouraging beneficial insects and birds to thrive.

By Car: Toppesfield Vineyard is located in rural Essex, close to the Suffolk border. It is approximately a 10-minute drive from the picturesque villages of Finchingfield and Castle Hedingham, about 20 minutes from Saffron Walden and Sudbury, and around 50 minutes from Cambridge and Colchester.

By Public Transport: The nearest railway connection is the heritage Colne Valley Railway at Castle Hedingham, approximately 4.5 km away. Taxis can be arranged from local railway stations to the vineyard.
